Bryn Morris is an experienced midfielder who signed for Newport in June 2023. Morris arrived at the club with over 150 Football League appearances under his belt, having spent a lot of his career playing in League One.
Morris’s talent for football was spotted at a young age, with the Hartlepool-born player signing for the Middlesbrough Academy when he was just 11. He would then progress through the ranks at the club before making his professional debut for the club at 17 years old, playing in a 4-1 FA Cup win at Hastings United. He would make his league debut in a Championship clash with Sheffield Wednesday a few months later.
Bryn would then spend the next few seasons on loan, picking up valuable playing time at Burton Albion, Coventry City, York City, and Walsall.
He would leave Middlesbrough in 2017 and sign with League One Shrewsbury Town. Morris would play an integral part in an action-packed campaign for Shrewsbury, appearing at Wembley twice for the club in one month in the EFL Trophy and League-One Play-Off finals.
He would spend another year in Shropshire but was loaned out to Wycombe during the 18/19 season. His spell at Wycombe was his most prolific in front of goal, scoring three times in 16 games and earning plaudits across the division.
Following his release from Shrewsbury, Morris signed with Portsmouth and would make 16 appearances for the club. He would then spend time on loan at Northampton Town before joining Burton Town.
In the 22/23 season, Morris was reunited with his former Shrewsbury boss, Paul Hurst, when he signed for Grimsby Town. He made 31 appearances for the Mariners, hitting the net twice during his time there. Morris was a part of the Grimsby team that reached the FA Cup Quarter-Finals for the first time since 1939.
Morris signed for Newport in June 2022, with manager Graham Coughlan describing him as a great addition to the squad with a great engine and character.
