James Rowberry: "I thought we did enough to win the game."

Newport County boss James Rowberry was happy to take a point from Bradford at the weekend but is of the belief his side did enough to take all three from Valley Parade.

County had to settle for a second 0-0 draw of the season against the Bantams as the Exiles moved up to 5th in the League Two table with a point.

"I thought we were terrific, I thought we did enough to win the game and I thought our passes of play that we had at times, especially in the first half, were excellent," manager James Rowberry said at full-time.

"Naturally you're going to come under a little bit of pressure when you come to Bradford with how they try to play and it's another team that's matched our shape in midfield again so it's a credit to the lads with the work they've done.

"It's a hard-earned point but I think we did more than enough to win the game. I thought we had some great chances, we had two balls across the face of goal and we had a stonewall penalty turned down - it's a penalty. I don't understand why it's not been given."

One positive is that it was County's first clean sheet since the 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers on March 5.

"I think we defended a lot better than we did against Hartlepool and we showed that today. I thought we got into better opportunities to get 13 shots away from home and to be progressive, I was pleased with that. We've just got to keep going and keep going forward.

"We showed desire and grit to see out a strong performance that we had, I'm disappointed we didn't get a goal. I was told to never be disappointed with a point - they all count at the end of the season. I was pleased with the collective performance from the group."

Attention now turns to a double header against fellow promotion chasers with Exeter City coming to Rodney Parade this Saturday before a trip to Swindon on April 9.
