Wheelchairs

NCAFC provide wheelchairs with waterproofs to fit the user and chair.

These can be used for supporters who struggle to walk to their seat but do not wish to sit in a wheelchair for the duration of the game. (The wheelchair can be collected and returned to your vehicle of transport.) If you are a wheelchair user who is unable to bring a chair to the match, we can provide you with a chair for this

Blankets 

NCAFC holds a number of blankets and emergency ponchos for the use of anyone who requires them before, during, or after the game. If you would like one of these, please speak to the nearest steward who will source one for you. 

Toilets 

Accessible Toilets are located in the Bisley Stand. We encourage those who require these services to watch the match from this side of the Stadium. These have been fitted with radar locks, if you do not possess your own, please inform a steward.

Lifts

There is a lift located in the Hospitality Entrance to the Bisley Stand which provides access to Hospitality Lounges and Bars.

Food and Drink

Following Stadium refurbishments, Disabled supporters can gain access to purchase food and drink items from the Bisley Stand side of the Stadium. Please note that these are card only. 

Hearing Loop

Our Rodney Parade Ticket Office and Kingsway Club Shop both have portable Hearing Loops.

TRAIN STATION

Trains from the West and North will arrive at Platform 4, you can use the accessible lifts with space to turn your chair around, and leave via the main exit on to Queensway.  If you prefer to get to the ground by Taxi you can ask Dragon Taxi’s to collect you from the rear of the station.

All platforms (1, 2, 3 & 4) all have accessible lifts.

PEDESTRIAN ROUTE

Home Supporters

The route here has been chosen by the DSA and tested and is what they believe to be the most comfortable route for a supporter in a wheelchair.  It is bit longer than the standard route over the bridge to Clarence Place and is of course only advice, the route stated in the in the “First Time Visits and Family” tab is the optimum route for any supporter from the Train Station to the ground.

Away Supporters

Please give yourself around 30 mins (approx. 1 mile) to get to the Away End of the ground if using pedestrian routes. 

The best route for wheelchairs (tested) is shown below and can be downloaded to your smartphones email via this link or be printed prior to starting your journey. 

Please note all subways in Newport are wheelchair accessible.  If you have an electric wheelchair we would recommend this over using Newport Buses as the Bus Station access at the Stadium End is not the best. 

Railway Station to Bus Station

The route below will take around 10 mins and is the best route for accessibility to the bus station.  Downloadable written instructions and these maps are also available.

Buses to Rodney Parade

All Newport Buses are accessible.

Please use the number 42 or 43 Bus Service from Stand 12 of the station.  On a Saturday one of these buses will leave approximately every 7mins until 6:30pm.  After this time, there will be one bus running every hour on the 30^th minute.  On a Sunday and Bank Holiday, these busses run every hour on the 30^th minute also.

Get off the bus at Clarence Place.  The ground is a couple of minutes away; this can be seen from the first satellite map provided.

The bus stop for the return journey is right outside the ground and again would be the number 42 or 43 taking you back to the bus station.

We have an allocation of accessible parking spaces both in the ground and in the nearby Maindee Primary School car park. 

With a limited number of spaces priority will be given to those on a Higher Rate of:

• Disability Living Allowance
• Personal Independence Payments
• Attendance Allowance

However, applications will be considered on individual circumstances, this includes temporary issues.

Your application will still be considered if you do not receive one of the above allowances. 

To apply for an allocated space for the season please complete the Accessibility Form.

Applications for a season-long parking space need to be submitted by the end of July 2022.

Applications received after this date will then be processed at the end of October, and subsequently then after the New Year. 

If you previously had a disabled parking space last season does not necessarily mean you will be guaranteed a space for the 2022/23 season. Please submit the Accessibility Form.

If you have a one off request please email the Disability Access Officer at office@newport-county.co.uk at least 48 hours before kick-off. 

Visiting Supporters

Visiting supporters can access one of five spaces by contacting their club. All these spaces are in Maindee Primary School car park as the nearest parking facility available.

If you are a wheelchair user and require a wheelchair bay, please contact the Club.

If you require a Carer Ticket, please come to the Ticket Office (located at the main entrance to the stadium - Gate 1 -  Gate 1 - Beresford Road).  These are provided free of charge when applying for a Carer Ticket.

In line with the Club's policy, a disabled supporter will be charged full price based on their age and area of the Stadium they wish to watch the match from, with their assistant receiving free admittance to accompany them. 

Newport County AFC has a limited number of spaces for wheelchair dependent supporters and their companians in stands at Rodney Parade. The Club wishes to make the most appropriate use of these facilities by providing them to those with disabilities who are unable to sit in any other part of the stadium. Individuals using, or wishing to apply for use of these designated areas must meet the following criteria:

1. Wheelchair using applicants must be largely dependent on a wheelchair for mobility purposes or not capable of walking a distance further than that required to reasonably and safely access any other part of the stadium.

2. Wheelchair dependent applicants of either manual or powered wheelchairs are encouraged to be accompanied by a personal assistant who is capable of supporting their needs in the event of any emergency evacuation. In this case the Club’s Disability Access Officer should be contacted in advance for all relevant information. The Club would not refuse admittance to those who don’t bring a personal assistant; any refusals will only be on the grounds of a contravention of Health and Safety legislation.

Designated areas for wheelchair dependent home supporters are located on the North Terrace = 4 spaces and Hazell Terrace = 4 spaces. There is a designated area for wheelchair dependent away supporters located in the South Stand = 4 spaces (PA seated).

The area on the North Terrace is raised and covered; if additional protection is needed emergency ponchos and blankets are available. Please note that the area is exposed to the elements from the pitch, this is the case in the majority of the stadium for all supporters.

The area on the Hazell Terrace is at the south end near the changing rooms and is pitch level, under the cover of the terrace. There is a restricted view of the corner area on the near side of the pitch at the northern end, this view is restricted for all supporters not just those using the area. Wheelchair dependent supporters who require tickets for a designated area are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.

SUPPORTERS WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIES

Supporters with learning difficulties can be accommodated in the stadium by various means as it is normally possible for them to use ordinary stand accommodation. Supporters with learning difficulties can normally attend games by themselves. However, if for whatever reason this is not the case, we encourage these people to be accompanied by a personal assistant (free of charge) who is capable of supporting their needs in the event of any emergency evacuation.

SUPPORTERS WITH AMBULATORY DISABILITIES

The Club recognises that there are considerable numbers of people in the community who use wheelchairs mainly for outdoor mobility purposes but are not necessarily confined to their wheelchair. There are also many people suffering severe walking difficulties who may wish to watch a match. There are also people with learning difficulties or debilitating illnesses who have difficulty walking. For the purposes of this policy this category of people will be termed ‘supporters with ambulatory disabilities’ and they will be asked to purchase tickets at least 48 hours in advance where possible

It will also be necessary for the ambulant supporter to provide qualifying documentation relating to their condition in order to qualify for a personal assistant ticket, if a personal assistant is required (as previously set out). Supporters with certain conditions can sometimes have difficulty in accessing seats in some parts of the Stadium. Newport County AFC recognises that elderly people now form a larger part of the population than younger people and the Club wishes to make sure that our elderly supporters are able to continue to attend matches whenever possible. The Club therefore recognises that some of its longest serving supporters with infirmities may require seating in an appropriate area of the stadium. Supporters with infirmities who require seats in appropriate areas are encouraged to purchase tickets 48 hours in advance.

ASSISTANCE DOGS

Assistance dogs are admitted to the ground. The Club’s Supporter Liaison should be contacted at least 48 hrs in advance of a game for all relevant information. Measures will be taken to ensure that the welfare of the Assistance Dog is preserved. The club does have a separate Policy for Assistance Dogs.

The DSA understand there are a number of people who are nervous about attending Football Matches.  They also understand that this might be for a variety of reasons.  

The DSA are commited to creating an environment for everyone to enjoy football matches at Rodney Parade.  If you are nervous about attending a football match, please don't hesitate to get in-touch with the DSA so they can discuss your worries, needs and concerns with you. 

The DSA can help form a plan with you so that you can attend the game and enjoy it fully!  There truly is nothing better than a singing, cheering Rodney Parade.
